I can't geet it to start up. here is what it says

Ubuntu Ps3 KBoot Loader.
No defualt rootfs was found, or one was found and it didn't containg a message = congig file.

If no rootfs was found. you can enter the shell here with 'sh'. Exiting will return you to this promt. In the shell you can mount your rootfs as
/mnt/root/.

Reasons this may have happened include:
-No drive with a rootfs was actually found.
-your rootfs does not have the correct volume label of "/"
-Your rootfs is corrupt (use the rescue cd to fix this).

so you've already installed ubuntu right? if so then at kboot type:

/boot/vmlinux initrd=/boot/initrd.img root=/dev/sda1

this should make it boot up then when it has open a terminal and type

sudo sed -e 's/sdd1/sda1/' -i /etc/kboot.conf

once thats opened edit the kboot.conf file so it looks like this

message=/etc/kboot.msg
default=linux
timeout=100
linux='/boot/vmlinux initrd=/boot/initrd.img root=/dev/sda1 quiet splash'

that way you wont have to type the first string everytime in kboot.

go here:
http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload/KBoot-Download-26270.html
download the the second one.

make a folder on your usb stick or sd card called PS3 then inside that make a folder called OTHEROS then put the file you downloaded in the OTHEROS folder.

format the ps3 if you haven't done so already in system settings ->format utility.

put the memory stick in the ps3 then go to system settings and install other os.
put your ubuntu disc in the ps3 then go to system settings->install other os and select other os.

the kboot loader screen will appear then just press enter on the keyboard (im assuming you have one for the ps3 because you cant do it without one)

if you haven't got ubuntu download it here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PlayStation_3

scroll down to alternate install discs and its the first link.
the alternate disc is much faster and easier to install then the live cd.
(it will appear to freeze at 6% but just wait a while)

once thats done repeat the steps in my first post.

that probably is the problem right? I haven't had enough time to try this because I just got home from football and now I've got crap to do, so I probably won't be able to try till this weekend. :(
