PSP Slim core out in the US?

I know this might seem like a really stupid question but I've been looking on various sites like EBGames/Gamestop and Best Buy and stuff like that to see that the Daxter bundle for the PSP Slim is out and the Star Wars bundle is coming out in October. My question is the PSP Slim core out in the US yet? Because the retailers have a PSP core for sale but I'm wondering if that is the Phat one or the new Slim. I really want a Slim but would rather just buy the Core thats why I ask.

Oh and if I were to buy one from Ebay that is imported from Japan (FFVII Limited Edition one for example) or Australia, I understand that it wont play US UMD movies. Right?

the psp slim core is not released yet. dates are moving around and the latest release date is in october. i'm waiting on a core, too.

as for playing movies, you are right. the umd movies are region locked.
