Can I play backup games online with a modchip?

The modchip I am planning on buying has the option to disable the chip so I can play online games with it installed. But if I make a backup of a game that I want to play online and patch it with a DNAS code, and put it in my console I would need to disable to the modchip for it to work online, right?

But this is the part where I am confused, when I disable the modchip, doesn't that prevent the backup game from loading in the PS2 therefore making it unplayable online, and unplayable all together? If anyone can provide me with more information on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
