Hello, I don't know if this is the right forum, but I'll post it here since I don't know where else to post it. When I copy my owned personal movies, the software I have (CloneDVD) it takes approximately 30 minutes to copy it and 7-10 minutes to burn it. I have bought a brand new drive, a Pioneer 18x, thinking this would solve my problem. Why does it take 30+ minutes to copy any movie? I have seen other friends computers that take less than half that time to copy a movie with a slower, older drive. What can I do to speed up the copying? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

Make sure the DMA transfer mode is on for the communication channel to which your burner is attached.

Are you shrinking/compressing any of the video? Clone does it's thing and then creates an output file and then burns, so it takes some time compared to other programs depending on what's being done. Have you tried DVD Shrink to see if it'll do what you want, but faster?

@medic776,
the time frame you mention is not that bad, one factor to consider is how much compression is needed for the movie to fit on a DVD-5 (4.7 Gig) disk. One which requires a bit of work will require more time to transcode, but a file smaller than 4.7 will require no time to transcode.
If you want to speed up your time, try backing up only the movie and leave the special features alone.
