DVD does not playback properly - burning error

I am trying to burn dvds that have been put onto dvd from a vhs. The guy i bought them from said he made them so they could not be burnt. He said they are only designed for playback. WHen i burn them they freeze up every now and then. Is there any program out there that i could use to get around this, or is it cheap media that i am using (gotech)

how are you trying to burn them. Can you copy an image to your harddrive. This is usually better than trying to do it on the fly. If you can, then can you view it with real player, win media, quicktime, etc.

If you can copy the image and view it, it is not protected.
How do you burn (what program, what burner, what media).

i have a sony DRU-500A. I use Nero 6. I can view the dvds's on my standalone but they freeze up after about 80 minutes. WHen used on another dvd standalone they don't freeze up but every couple of minutes go fuzzy for a split second. i think my standalone must be a bit cheap. How can i copy the dvd onto my hard drive and view it?

Try to copy the files onto your hard drive in a VIDEO_TS folder. If you cant do it because it is encrypted, use DVD Decrypter in file mode.

You should then be able to burn this with Nero. I recommend the dvdshrink.info guides to figure out what settings you need with Nero.

Sorry Guys but I think the problem isn't the DVD ! I think it's the DVD-R, I was just looking for any possibilitys why I've got problems with the Go Tech ones and I found about 100 Forum Topics about that brand !
They are shit ! I've never had any problems with the Princo ones and other noname brands but I bought a 10 of the go tech ones and I couldn't burn one of them properly !

Sorry 4 my bad english but I'm from germany :D !
