Well here the deal I want to use DVD Shrink to back up some of my movies then put them onto my iPod. My problem is that when I use shrink to output my files to HDD it creates multiple VOB files. This makes it less conviniant for me to put onto my iPod. So in the prefrence tab of DVD Shrink I uncheck the box, split viles into 1GB chuncks, which then creates one large VOB files for me. Now the problem is that this single VOB file does not play all the way through. When I open it with POWER DVD it says it has to shut-down and when I try to play it in windows media player it freezes my computer at the same spot every time. Can anybody give me some insight on why this is happening?? Or how I may be able to fix it?

Use DVD Decrypter in .ifo mode and select stream processing.
This is from a great guide found here LethalB's Guide. Halfway down the page it describes using Decrypter and videora but but you dont need videora, just use whatever converter you like.
Originally posted by Lethal guide...:

1) Place the DVD you want to rip your video from into your DVD drive.
2) Launch DVD Decrypter.
3) Go to the Mode menu and select `IFO` I mode. This will give you access to two new tabs Input & Stream Processing:
4) Then, go `Tools` then `Settings` go to the IFO tab, then under Options, change File Splitting to None and press `OK`.
5) Now go back to the main menu and select the `Stream Processing` tab. Check the box net to it so it is enabled, and only select the first video listed, as well as the audio. The encoded video's don't support any sort of subtitles, so uncheck that box if it's ticked.
6) Choose a location where you would like the DVDRip to go. Click on the Browse button (shown on screenshot below), locate the folder & click OK.
7) Now go `File` and `Decrypt` to begin. (It can take up to 15 minutes or even longer to rip the movie to your computer- depending on how good your computer is and how large the DVD is).

Sounds like a structure problem. Even with one VOB Shrink creates a bup and IFO to go along with it. For DVD players, they need the correct files and structure in the Video_TS folder to play properly. Shrink wasn't intended for use in creating files for Ipods, cell phones, and some of the other small personal viewing devices. I'd suggest using the right software. You'll find offerings from DVDIdle, InterVideo, and others that will do the job correctly.

I actually got the large VOB file to convert with the free iPod converter from AD. Does anybody know what format the converter uses VGA, QVGA, SP, H.264??? Is there a program that can identify mpeg formats? Like DVD identifier?

DVD Identifier is for finding the manufacturing info that's on DVD Media. For instance, you can have a disc with the Verbatim brand and the manufacturer info show it was manufactured by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC). Some brands have used multiple manufacturers for the same format. Nice little tool, but it doesn't ID video formats. It's single purpose for the manufacturing info.
