Bought a PSP camera on eBay. Everything is in Japanese. Info. on eBay said was compatable with PSP bought in US. I have system S/W 2.71 on PSP. I downloaded the camera s/w from goedit. Where do I get the system s/w that will run the camera? Can I just download the latest PSP software from Sony? Anything else I need to do?
Yes. the software is on the firmware, upgrade to 3.51 or 3.71 and you'll have it.
Though, i strongly suggest you move to custom firmware, it's so much better than official firmware, you can do a lot more with it. 2.71 is a perfect firmware to downgrade to 1.50 and then install custom firmware (3.52 M33) from.

Ok, follow the steps below to reach 1.50, note that any downgrader stands a little chance of "bricking" your PSP (Meaning it doesn't turn on), but, with a Pandora Battery it can be fixed.
There is little risk, but i'd just like to say i'm not responsible :)
It's your choice whether you downgrade or not, but custom firmware is a lot better than official, you can:
1)Run homebrew (User created content)
2)Run any PS1 game
3)Run emulators to play old games (N64, Genesis, GBA, etc)
4)Hundreds of custom themes, fully customising the XMB
5)Rip your UMDs to play off the memory stick (Much faster load speeds)
6)Play any PSP game (ISO or CSO) from your memory stick (That includes ones you download).
7)There are a few more things, but i've covered the major ones
1. Open the downloaded files
-From the 271dg.zip extract everything to your PSP's root (X:/)
-Now take the EBOOT.PBP that is within the EBOOT_1.50.zip file and rename it to UPDATE.PBP. Then copy the file to X:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder.
2. Connect the AC adapter to the PSP highlight the PHOTO icon and then press Triangle, then Slideshow
A Few things could happen
- The PSP freezes, just restart manually and try again.
- Red screen the process has failed.Reset manually and try again.
- Blue or green screen the process was a success the PSP will reset itself.
Note: For the next few steps make sure your battery is charged to at least 75% and your charger plugged in.
3. Go to GAME and run the UPDATE X.YZ.
-If your battery is less than 75%, the PSP will restart without displaying any errors.
-If everything goes well then it will display something like this Doing preparationsandExtracting special PRXs.
4. After the screen will change to magenta or pink text Press X
-The downgrade will show a percentage bar.
5. When it finishes it will say to press X and the PSP will restart itself.

I added the PSP s/w by doing the following:
1. Download the program zip (www.pspfanboy.com/files/UCES90027.zip)
2. Extract the contents of the zip file.
3. Connect your PSP to your computer using a USB cable.
4. Go to the PSP/GAME folder.
5. Copy UCES90027 folder into the GAME directory.
My PSP doesn't recognize the camera. Any idea what I did wrong or what else I have to do? Thanks again!!!
