Will future updates from xbox livfe stop me from my copied games working (not online) ?

Good question, From what people in here have said to me in the past,you are safe to play offline with games and microsoft hasn't released an update to stop you playing your backed up originals .

Who knows? I hope they can't.

its doughtful microsoft will ever do anything to disable our systems to the point where they are destroyed and wont work at all, they have and will again ban them from live service but when we buy the service we agree that we have not tampered with our 360's so legally they can stop the system from working there, but there is laws in place in the united states (freedom to tinker)that protects us somewhat from them on killing them out.
microsoft will have a very large class action lawsuit on there hands if they destroy them.
