Movie Editing Software that imports from DVD Drive?

I am looking for some video software that will let me take scenes from a DVD from the DVD Drive to import in a video. Such as, I want to take some clips from differetn DVD's to make a 'fake' movie trailer. Also I have some home videos saved on a DVD desk. I would like to make a "BEST OF" out of those. I have found software that will copy the entire dvd to a dvd+R or to the PC but that I want a scene not the enter disc. Other software will let me do this if a DVD is hooked up over Audio/Video connect like a Dazzle. If it can be done I rither use the DVD Drive on the PC. Faster and easyer for me. Can this be done? A freind said he uses software that does it but he is a Mac, I am using Windows.
Can anyone tell me a good program for this?
