hey all,
i want to but a Digital SLR camera that has a resolution of either 8 or 10 mega pixels (10mp preferably). but i don't want to spend any more than between £250 and £300 as i am only starting with digital and im set on this price range and image quality.
i have seen the Olympus E400 for £300. which is a 10mp DSLR/pro. i really like this although i am not to sure if there are any other cameras that are of better quality and for less money.
i have used a digital camera enough to notice the difference between the DSLR image quality and a normal digital camera.
but i am also concerned that it was only the camera that i have used before that captured the amazing images (nikon d50) and not the actual type as this is the only one i have real experience with.
so what do you all think of this camera and is it worth £300?
if anyone has better suggestions for an enthusiast photographer they're all welcome!
thanks

If you like how the Nikon does, then why not stay with them for a DSLR instead of going to another brand that you have no experience with ?? What is the price difference of the Olympus and a Nikon ?

the nikon d50 is around £200, although it is only 6.3mp and i want more than this, the step up from that is a lot more expensive but i could give it a look.
the olympus e400 is £200, so i would be paying 100 more for a brand new DSLR with approx 4mp more.
how does that sound to you?
edit: and also the nikon d80 (which is the step up from the d50 with any real changes) is around £400-500

why exactly do you think the more the megapixels the better?
the question is what are you shooting?
I have a 8mp rebel xt, i blew a pic up to 20x30 and it was beautiful.
the d50 is a great camera. Heck you can ever find Canon 30D's cheap since the 40D was just released.

iPirate: i never did think that the more megapixels the better. as i KNOW they are not. the fact that its a DSLR only means that the amount of megapixels will restrict the size i can enlarge the photo without it being distorted or pixelated. and for the amount money i am going to spend i would like something that isn't going to be left behind in the future (i dont want to spend around or over £300 on something that is old and not the best i can get for the money)hence why i said;
''the olympus e400 is £200, so i would be paying 100 more for a brand new DSLR with approx 4mp more.''
as i wasnt sure whether saving money was the best choice, and i SHOULD go for the other camera as it is BETTER QUALITY for MONEY
but i shall look at the canon eos 3od although a quick look shows that brand new this would be out of my price range. thanks

Dont worry so much about the mega pixels so much. Too many people think this is most important. Look for options on the camera and comfort.
