Try ripping the DVD with DVD Decrypter first and then use CloneDVD to compress and burn.

Guides in my link :D
AS the CloneDVD error, update your ASPI driver as ASPI is used for I/O. Get ASPI here: http://download.com.com/3000-2098-10161913.html
Also make sure that you try other programs such as DVD Shrink (Guides below) as this is excellent free software.
Good luck :D

This has to be a problem with the media you are using. Try to clean the media with any product for scratches on cd/dvd. This helped me.

Play the movie for a few seconds. Then try AnyDVD and Clone again.

I read the Guide for clone dvd and it recommends using DVD Decrypter first before using clone dvd. I was wondering though, if you have anydvd does that mean that it is pointless to use DVD Decrypter?

Hi Superman 1,
Right, if AnyDVD is running in the background it will decrypt the DVDs you put in your drive.
For example if AnyDVD is running and you put a DVD in, intending to use DVD Decrypter, Decrypter will tell you that the movie is unencrypted.
DVD Decrypter is free and useful with other programs as well, i.e. Nero Recode 2. I have another free program called DVD43 that is very similar to AnyDVD.
So you don't need Decrypter if you have AnyDVD with CloneDVD, It is useful to keep and learn however.

Hi pcshateme,
DVD Shrink must have Nero installed with it to burn, right?
I suppose some of these folks don't have Nero, which is a bit pricey.
You can use Shrink and then use CloneDVD to burn but I think you would end up encoding twice, once in Shrink and once in Clone.
I stick with Shrink and Nero 99% of the time, myself.
Cheers,
Frank

if you dont have Nero you can just have shrink make it to a HDD folder and then use whatever software your burner came with

Yes this is true! When I tried to use the software that came with my computer I couldn't get it to work. I did not realize that I needed to decrypt and compress etc.
Following the advice of a salesman at circus city, where I bought the computer, I bought DVD Xcopy Gold on line. I couldn't get that to work so I bought Nero 6 at Costco. Couldn't get that to work either. Then I found Afterdawn and was happily Shrinking and burning soon after.
So I guess I just forgot about the programs that came installed, being so happy with Nero and all. :D
