my x-box 360 was working just fine yesturday afternoon, but then i turned it off and a couple hours later i turned it back on and it wouldn't read/load the game (Halo 3). Instead, im taken to the dashboard and it says open tray (implying i have no game in the tray). I open it and close it then it says reading disk, but stops and agian it says open tray. I don't know what's wrong, im thinking it's the lazer thingy, but im not sure. Can anyone help me!? thanks for ur time.....

Well it probably is your laser. You could try to pot tweak it and see if that makes it work for awhile longer.

i thought that too, but it reads dvd's and regular xbox games (halo 2), but not 360 games. I have no idea what's wrong.

I have the same problem and its driving me crazy!! Can't get it to load any 360 games or DVD's but it plays audio cd's with no problem. Can any body help please[/b]!!

Whenever you pot tweak a laser you are adjusting the resistance of the laser. Lower the resistance more current thus making your laser work harder. I would just suggest getting a new laser though because out of my experiences the pot tweak never worked wonders.It could possibly in your case though. Google it and you'll find a tutorial on how to do it.
