I plan on upgrading my system soon with a INTEL Core 2 Duo E6850 3GHz FSB1333MHz 4M LGA775 processor and would like to see how it compared with my old 3ghz Pentium 4 processor. Can anyone tell me how long would it take to convert a 2 hour movie to xvid with AutoGK using the default settings. Right now it's taking like 5-6 hours which is too long for me.

go for a Q6600 - this will help ur encoding far more than the E6850.. u can also overclock the Q6600 to 3Ghz *very* easily, increasing ur encoding power / decreasing ur encoding time yet again... trust me, go the Q6600!

@ www.newegg.com - the CPU that the OP mentioned is same price as the Q6600 - USD$280... so u can get two cores @ 3.0GHz OR FOUR cores @ 2.4GHz, either one for USD$280... GO QUAD CORE FTW!!! :D:D:D
