Perhaps this has already been asked... But I can't seem to find a DVD that will work. Every time I try to Burn to a DVD it opens my writer and tells me to insert a blank DVD... My last attempt was Maxell DVD-R - funny thing is that my Maxell CD-R pro works, so I know my writer is fine. I just need the brand of DVDs that have proven to work... I have gone to their site, they have a link there that is suppose to tell you which DVDs work... however there is nothing listed! IF anyone has this info please pass it on!

Thanks,
Laura

it might be your burner not recognizing your media! CDs and DVDs are different and each burner has memory installed in the burner called firmware telling it write strategies on how to burn to that media.... it might need a firmware update to recognize your media! If your burner is old and you put in NEW media (16x media) it might not recognize your disk and therefore you get the: insert blank media. Here is a simple solution:

download DVDDecrypter, it's free and found here:
http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/software.htm

and follow this:

1. select your burner
2. hit TOOLS on menu bar
3. DRIVE
4. CHECK FOR FIRMWARE UPDATE

Then a small screen appears telling your what your firmware is and then hit OK and that will take you to the FIRMWARE PAGE showing you your burner and the latest firmware available for your burner! if your firmware (as shown in the small screen) is old .... update to the newest firmware available! then you can try again to burn! good luck....

if your firmware is the latest available.... use better media.... MIJs (Made In Japan). Check label on the box or spindle for MIJ or buy Taiyo Yuden online at supermediastore.com, rima.com, meritline.com or other reputable online stores. Verbatim can be found in stores and readily available and is the exception to the MIJ rule! good luck.

You specifically mentioned having problems burning under ProShow. It is VERY picky about how it burns and you are not alone in having problems with this program. You should visit this site and search the ProShow Gold or Producer forums to see who else has had this problem. I am pretty sure I saw a few posts about this type of problem and if I recall correctly, they found it better to burn the show as an ISO. It'll guide you through the procedure once you find that link....and good luck. http://www.proshowenthusiasts.com/
