Wii compatable dvd burner/Media

I have a HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GCA-480N DVD burner in a HP laptop and am having troubles buring backup's. I have several diffrent brands of DVDR's both +R and -R . 90% of my burns are not readable by my Wii. I have burned a couple of games sucessfully but the majority of them fail. After the last Wii update some of the burned games that did work no longer work. Do i need a new DVD burner in order to increase the sucess rate? What kind of disks and drives work best?

I have verified the file size on all my .iso and they are;

Nintendo Wii ISO size: 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes).
