Howdy all. I bought a Dazzle DV 150 so I can put my VHS tapes on to a DVD+R. The unfortunate part is that the program that comes with it Pinnacle Studio 8, only allows for 4.7 gigs of capture time-giving me no chance to compress the captured video somehow. From what I've read on the forums, I'm going to try this... Capture the 4.7 and put it on a DVD+R disk. Next capture the rest of the VHS tape, and put it to DVD+R... Next use DVD2One, and then use DVD Shrink. If anyone has a better idea, I'd really appreciate it. I've tried different programs to try to capture, but they don't recognize the Dazzle DV 150. Thanks in advance.

What you need is a Good DV Capture Editing Program Like "Vegas Video 4" or "Adobe premier" to capture your VHS Movies to DV AVI, then you can use the program to edit the files and export the Files as a DVD Compliant Mpeg2 file...As long as your Drives are formated to NTFS you will be able to capture files as Big as you want useing these Programs...Cheers

Ack! I'm using the FAT32 on the machine I capture to.. Hmmm. Guess I'll have to put it over to my new PC. Dang it!! Now I can't play Enemy Territory, or Half-Life, and do my movies!!! Wah! Hmm... Maybe a new HD? ;) Thanks. After I do that I'll search for how to make mpeg2 compressed enough to fit on a 4.7 disk... THANKS!

What determines the Size of your Mpeg2 files is the bitrate you use to make the mpeg2 file and the Length of the Source file...So if you want to make your Mpeg file small enough to fit on a 4.3gb DVD-R you have to use the Right bitrate when you create the Mpeg2 file...Makeing the Mpeg2 file then re-compressing it so it is smaller is not the way to go about it because everytime you re-compress a File you loose a Bunch of Quality so it is best to compress it to the correct size the first time....You are going to have to use a System with NTFS if you want to capture files bigger than 4gb and all you need to have a NTFS System is Win 2000 Win NT or Win XP and it only takes a few minutes to format a drive to NTFS as long as it is a drive that your OS is not installed on...I work with digital video for a Liveing so if you have any questions I can Probably answer them....Cheers
