ARMax (not EVO) Troubles

i have a problem with my armax everything works fine when you start it but as soon as you open up the memory card manager the screen starts to scroll and goe all grey (kinda like when your watching a movie on your vcr on channel 3 then you change the tv to channel 4 it goes all wonky) I know the problem isn't my tv because it does the same thing on all 3 tv's in my house (all different kinds of tvs)
and i dont think it's my ps2 because i have gameshark also but it works just fine and it's not my memory card because it does the same thing even when my memory card isn't plugged in and i dont think it's my cords either but i've returned my copy of armax 3 times for 3 other copies and they all do the same thing. CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE!!! REALLY NEED IT IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS :)

P.S.
the reason i need to get it working is because my laser is starting to go :( so i wanted to exploit my ps2 so i dont have to put as much strain on the laser :) and gameshark will not work for me :( and nobody around here caries codebreaker and i dont have a credit card to buy it online :(

If you have any kind of USB drive, have you tried putting the required files onto the USB drive and running the installation .elf file through ARMAX's media player?
