I have been sucessfully using DVD Decrypter with the DVD Multiple Feature Ripper Script wriitten by Cheekie Moonkie to extract single TV episodes from multiple episode DVDs. My burner just died and yesterday I replaced it with a Sony AW-Q170A (an OEM model). Now every time I try to run the script when DVD Decrypter starts up I get the folllowing error msg:

I/O Error

Device [2:0:0] Sony DVD RW AW-Q170A (H:) (ATA)

Scsi Status: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 28 00 00 00 01 09 00 00 02 00
Interpretation: Read (10) Sectors 265 - 266

Sense Area: 70 00 04 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 08 03 00 00 00 00
Interpretation: Logical Unit Communication CRC Error (ULTRA DMA/32)

I thought there might be something wrong with the disc,
although I plays well on my pc and in my stand alone DVD player,
so I tried it on my firends system. He's using a Samsung TS-H552U
burner and it worked perfectly.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

BTW the disc being used is a DL copy that I burned myself from an original retail DVD, which I own.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly apreciated. (TIA)

Check the jumper settings on the back of the drive - they should match the placement on the ide cable - like on the master connector jumper pin set to master.
If this is a Dell though they prefer the cable select select setting.

Thanks for picking up this thread. Unfortunately prior to installing the drive I matched the drive select jumper to match the setting of the drive it was replacing. Since I posted the thread I installed new aspi drivers, just in case the new drive needed a newer release level and I uninstalled and reinstalled both the drive and IDE channel supporting it. Non of this had any effect. I then tested the drive with some commercial DVDs and guess what? Suprise suprise, Nero Showtime couldn't open them claiming they had corrupted files. My conclusion to all of this: the drive is FUBAR. I guess I'll be making a trip back to where I purchased it and getting a different one. I usually find the OEM equivilant parts work without a hitch. Guess my string of luck has run out.
One again thanks blinkie7 for your suggestions.

Not a problem dlockjaw
yeah the drive could be fubar cause the error you get usually deals w/ communication between the drive and the pc. Could be a driver issue but you did what should have taken care of it if it was a driver issue.
I 2nd aabbccdd's choices in burners - my fav's :)
You might also just want to try switching it to another position like if set to master try slave - just in case.
