Hi guys...
Today i went to flash my friends hitachi 047 with garyopa 2.3 firmware.
I got the drive into mode b with the slax2 cd,got windows to recognize my drive, opened the command prompt on the folder ,
typed the command to flash with 2.3 firmware....
it started like it was going to dump the firmware but it froze...
cursor on my mouse would'nt move, i could'nt use the keys on my computer to reboot...

I thought the drive was definitely a brick as i had to turn off the computer.

When i rest and reboot the computer, i couldn't get windows back on, just a blue screen.

I tried the hitachi drive and thank god it was ok.

I was just wondering if a 47 drive is more problamatic to flash?
or if maybe my computer was to blame?

I have flashed 2 hitachis in the past (46 &78) and never had a problem.

I have formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows however i would like some advice before i try to flash again in case i brick it.

Thanks in advance..

Your computer was more than likely the culprit. However its up to you whether to take the risk (esspecially on a drive that isnt yours) on flashing it again. But being you said the pc was completely messed up after you tryed to flash i would say after a clean instal it would be safe to try to flash again.

yep it seems like you did have a problem on the pc and not to do with the drive or the flash. to beb honest your mates hard drive might be messed up and soon it might go on him may be thats why you cant flash it you did everything right but if the pcs messed up then it wont work which seems to be the case i know my hard drive messed up i couldnt format it but youve managed to do your mates so just try it againshould work if not then its his pc

just because it hung has nothing to do with his hard drive about to fail. you could have just booted into safe mode then shut down properly and it would have booted back up more than likely, but it should be safe to try, i have a hitachi in my new 360, damn things are horrible.
