I am trying to flash my Hitachi 78FK Drive with the Ixtreme 1.2 Firmware but I cant get the drive into mode B. I have a 8237R Sata chipset in my motherboard which I have read up on as far as XBox 360 modding goes is compatible. When I try to boot to slax I get a screen saying

Scan Devices Please Wait.....
None Raid
Serial_Ch0 Master: HL-STDVD-ROM GDR3120L
Press Tab key into user window

I press Tab and nothing happens can someone please help me I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply. But the problem has seemed to rectify itself in a way. Now it will boot to slax but slax wont recognise the drive and I have let it run through several times and it doesnt say that whole spinning up drive thing that seems to be part of the normal process. And when I press the eject button it just behaves as normal so I assume its not in mode.

Once again any help would be great I've been at it trying to do this thing for about 6-7 hours now and its driving me absolutely nuts.

I still have that Press Tab screen coming up even when I am just trying to boot to windows just to see if somehow it was in mode b.

I'm having the exact same problems as this guy in this thread if that helps. And ironically enough we have the exact same sata chipset and the same Hitachi 78fk drive. I've also tried Slax 2.0 Alpha and Slax 5.6. NO luck with either of them :(

I have it working now on another computer in mode b and this is currently the 11th hour of this oddyssey to flash this 78fk drive. Ironically it has the same VIA 8237R chipset as my computer but for some reason slax recognises it and likes it. But windows doesnt, I cant get it to be recognised under windows. Any help would be awesome. I'm gonna keep at it, till I finally get it :)

Finally got it with another computer and updating the SATA drivers thanks
