Small question:

What is the compatibility? I thought once you insert your game and press "x" swap magic has nothing to do with it? Does swap magic have an effect after you load your import or backup?

Once you load swap magic and use it to load a game the rest depends on whether or not a successful burn of the backup was made. Some newer games don't work with older versions of swap magic, but the newer 3.6/3.8 (I have 3.8) work with most. I haven't encountered a game yet I could not play.

Thanks. I bought a used Tales of the Abyss and the condition is appalling. It sticks and won't work. Now I've got to go and buy a new one. At least now I know its my game and not the swap magic disk. Thank you!

Yeah if the disc is in bad condition I would look into getting a better copy of it. Even if your laser does read it, it may put a strain on it.

i cleaned it and it still didn't work - at this time i was using a slimline ps2, but i tried it on a v7 fat ps2 and it worked except it stopped at the swap magic screen and not the load program screen.
