when i put the hard drive in it tries to update through xbox live. should I let?

or can i install my old xbmc dashboard on the harddrive using the linux cd? i assume i would have to unlock it first

If it's trying to update, there was a problem with the upgrade!

Ensure you are using clean files!

what about wiping the hard drive and using a modded dashboard will that work?
