Hi, new to the forums. Wondered if anyone could help me with a problem I'm having with the AV component cable to connect the PSP slim to your TV set. I purchased this cable with the sole intention of playing my PSP games through my HD TV but am now beginning to wonder if this is possible???!

Everything hooks together no problem so I know my TV is compatible. Ive selected connect display settings from the settings tab and can see my main PSP menu on my TV, so I am able to view my photos, listen to music etc. The one thing I am having difficulty with is getting it to start my games. When i click on the UMD it displays the following message:

"To display this screen on a connected device, you must be connected using a component cable or a d-terminal AV cable and you must output the video content in progressive format".

I've definitely got the above settings set up. You can only choose from progressive or interlace.

Any ideas??!! It is an official sony AV cable i purchased, for the 2000 series (mines is 2003).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I just recieved mine yesterday but had to buy a new tv since my old tv didn't have component av.
You have done everything right as far as I can see. Are you sure your tv supports Progressive Scan as I know that is a criteria for playing games.
My cable is a PSP-2000 series, (PSP-S180 on box) and tested on a PSP-2004(M33-3.71) and PSP-2000(Official 3.60)(Jap version)
I'm no prof when it comes to tv's and I battled to find ANY tv manuals where I purchased my tv stating it supported progressive scan. I took salesman's word that mine (Sansui LCT42SD) supported it. He stated all tvs with HD and Component Av support progressive scan BUT another salesman told me different. What is your TV model and brand. Maybe you can do a google search and check. My TV doesn't even show up on google!
Maybe take your PSP and cable to a TV Dealer and try it out on the latest models to prove it either way?
