So I am going to get HB via my friend. All I know about it is that you can play games using emulators and add a variety of applications.
So I was wondering what does HB actually do, how do you add emulators to your system, where do you find games at, how hard is it to add them.
Also, I looked at my friend's HomeBrewed PSP and I saw the HUGE list of games. Can you sort them into different folders??? Like PS1, GBA, "Shooters", etc...???
Also, what is the difference in all of the CFWs?? Like M33, and the different ones(sorry, I can't remember the names...) Like what does one have that others don't??
LAST question: How do you upgrade the CFW like from 3.50 to 3.71??? NOT offical firmware, the CFW stuff???
I know this is a LOT of questions, but PLEASE answer as many as you can. I STRONGLY APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!!!!

If you googled it and the answers you found confused you, then the answers i would give would most likely confuse you, i'll start off with some of the easy stuff:
I think you're talking about CFW when you talk about HB in your post, HB (HomeBrew) are specific applications (User created) that run on CFW
For HomeBrew games and emulators, i suggest QJ - http://dl.qj.net
For ISOs and CSOs (PSP games) - Pretty much any torrent site out there will have PSP games, go search (We can't really tell you here)
For ROMs (Games that you run on the emulators, eg: GameBoy Advance games) - There are some specific websites, again, search google
With your questions about using emulators, upgrading, whatever, search afterdawn, you'll find informative posts, step by step instructions for all of those things
In answer to your question about sorting them: No, they'll all just appear in your game menu in the order you put them on the memory stick (Unless you use a file sorter, but even then you can't sub-divide them)
To cut a long story short with your firmware questions: Get CFW 3.52 M33-4, it's the best, full stop.
PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

Wow! Thanks for all that! It did help me.
Why would you reccomend 3.52M33 over 3.71M33???
I don't understand the difference??
If I have a 3.71 OFW Slim, WILL THE PANDORA BATTERY WORK, OR NOT??!!!??!!?
--That is the biggest question I have!!!
PLEASE HELP!

Ahh, ok, right, if you have a Slim then the only way for you to go is 3.60 M33 -> 3.70 M33, 3.52 M33-4 is only for "Fat" PSPs.
I would have recommended 3.52 M33 over 3.70 M33 as it has better homebrew compatability, runs more PRXs, and has a far wider (And better) range of themes, among a couple of other minor things.
Since you have a Slim you can't use the 1.50 kernel, which means you can't run any 1.50 HomeBrew, or PRXs. It's a problem, but you'll have to live with it.
On the good side, yes, a Pandora Battery will work fine with a Slim, if it hasn't been "converted" for Slim use then your friend will need to do that before it will work on the Slim.

To tell you the truth, i can't remember :)
It's quite simple though and just involves changing some files on the memory card, search for something like "Slim Pandora Maker/Guide" either here or on google...

It's Dark_AleX's version of the Pandora Battery, it's better suited to Slim PSPs than just the modified Pandora.

you modify the magic memory stick. instead of it downgrading to 1.50, it goes directly to 3.71 m33-2.

(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
get it from here http://dark-alex.org/
it's the one called El Despertar del Cementerio v3
Installation:
- If you have already a pandora ms, don't do this part. Otherwise,
format an ms using c+d mspformat or any other tool that allows to move
partition to ~250kb from first sector
Remove ms, usb and connect again usb and ms.
Make PSP and PSP/GAME dirs.
- Copy despertar_cementerio to PSP/GAME/
- Download 1.50, 3.40 and 3.71 update eboots and copy them to ms root with
150.PBP, 340.PBP and 371.PBP names.
- Use the app under a cfw with 2.x or 3.x kernel (be sure that kernel is
selected on recovery to the correct one (2.x or 3.x))
- Once finished, u will have msipl.bin on root. If you already have a pandora
ms, you don't have to do this step (ipl doesn't changes lol), otherwise,
use c+d msinst to install ipl on ms; or use dd command from unix, or any
hex-edit program to write on sector 16 on the physical drive.
- Now you can delete 340 and 150 PBP's, as they won't be used more; but 371.PBP
will be used for unbricker, so don't delete it.
- Now you have an universal pandora ms ready to go, and you just need a proper
battery. If you have 1.50 kernel access, use c+d tool. Otherwise, use corly149 tool.
Battery and ms will work on all psp and slims to this date.
Unbricking:
- Press X to install 3.71M33.
- Press O to install original 3.71 (rest of the process as the X option)
- Press [] to dump nand to nand-dump.bin. When done, psp will auto shutdown.
- Press L+R+HOME+start to restore nand from nand-dump.bin
This proccess is very dangerous, and you should *just* use it if it's your
last chance to get it working.
This is a physical restore process (not a logical one), and will try to make
a 100% exact clon of the dump.
If you are working with a dump that isn't yours, you will get either a brick
or a corrupt idstorage, depending on the firmware.
If while you are restoring your psp have got any damaged block more than
when you dumped it, you might also get a brick, depending on what block is it.
Works for both PSP and PSP Slim.
