Yah, so I semi-bricked my NTSC(J) Wii and left the Wii setting screen unaccessible. This happened after a firmware update from either Mario Party 8 NTSC(U), Big Brain Academy NTSC(U), or Mario Strikers Charger NTSC(U). I am wondering are there any games that contain a newer firmware update then the games mentioned above?
I am currently downloading the Donkey Kong game in NTSC(J), and I believe it is very new, so will it fix the semi-brick problem?
Also, some other questions...
Is there anyway to find out what kind of modchips I have? I am pretty sure it is WiiKey but just want to make sure.
I currently am not able to play Cooking Mama and Big Brain Academy in NTSC(U) version. They just lock up in the loading screen after I boot them from the Wii menu. In addition, I often reach to an error disk page during the game of Mario Party 8 and Mario Strikers Charged. Will they work after I patch them using wiigionfree to NTSC(J) or update to the newest and correct firmware or will not be able to play the games ever?
If I downloaded a game in NTSC(U) with a newer firmware update than my console, and before loading, I updated it to NTSC(J) first with wiigionfree, which is the same region with my console, will it update the firmware correctly afterwards or would still lead to semi-brick or even full brick?
Sorry for the long list of questions, but MUCH appreciated if some help can be given.
Thanks a BUNCH in advance!

oooooook.
First of all if you don't know never update from another region game because thats how you get bricked, the solution to this is find a more recent firmware update from your region game which currently is hard to find which is why your asking about the DK game, if you can run the update on it then it should fix it but it doesn't mean that there will be one on there.
The only real way to find out which mod chip you have is to open it up, if you think you have the wiikey then grab the wiikey 1.3 config disc and see if you can configure your chip settings.
The games not working after the wrong update is because of your semi brick problem, are you able to play your own region games and not the NTSC-U ones? Please be a bit more specific on this area so i know whats going on. Getting the right wii firmware update should fix this problem, but is not a guarantee.
Regarding your question about the regionfrii'ing an NTSC-U update i would say that this is not a good idea, the update encoded in ntsc-u is intended for ntsc-u games, this could lead to a full brick.
SOLUTION: Wait for a new NTSC-J game for the update, eg. brawl or mario galaxy. I do not suggest playing with more updates.
If anyone has any contradictions or anything to add please feel free because i don't claim to know everything and other input would be nice, if your here to flame about stupidity just go. Sorry for the late reply and goodluck! -sLibs

Ok, so updating with game containing the right and newer firmware does not guarantee to fix semi-brick but just an assumption? I guess I will need to wait and try it out later!
Will using wiikey 1.3 config disc on a console with some other modchips brick my Wii further? or will it just not load?
Yes, I am still able to play Zelda NTSC(U); however, it seems like the newer games cannot function properly. I guess probably cuz the firmware was not updated correctly.
Anyways, I guess I will stick with some older games until later updates arrive.
Thanks a lot for your help slibs!!

Technically it should fix it, not so much an assumption, but you shouldn't raise your hopes on that one solution is all Im saying. Running a config disc won't brick your wii in any way so dont stress about it too much, try it out, you may find that you are running a wiikey.
