Im Having Trouble Backing Up Collier & Co. Hot Persuit.
IF Used Dvd Shrink With Anydvd 6174 And It Give Me A CRC Error at 61%
Tryed Anydvd and Clonedvd 2 2912 and still got Errors, used The newest
Dvdfab Decrypter and newest Dvdfab Platinum, used Ripit4me 1710 and I Noticed That the New Ripit4me Doesn't have Fixvts With it.
I Have Tryed 2 Different Copies And Same Errors, it Is In VTS_01_5 That Im getting the CRC Error. Usally With Ripit4me It goes throw dvd decrypter then to fixvts and then dvd shrink but with the ripit4me 1710 I didn't see fixvts. Am I Not Running Ripit4me Right
Has anyone else had this problem.

RipIt4Me 1.7.1.0 incorporated FixVTS. The separate FixVTS is no longer needed in the setup. FixVTS is still there and working, you just don't see it. RipIt4Me usually does a good job with default settings. Use the 1-click mode and don't use ISO as the rip mode.

I agree with john, sounds like a faulty disc. Make sure there are no smudges and/or scratches. It's not uncommon to get an occasional bad press. If you want to check the disc, run a read scan. DVDInfoPro includes the needed utility and programs such as Nero also have it.

Thank you for the info on ripit4me. Ok I did what you said and tried another copy of Collier & Co. Hot Pursuit from a different store
and still having errors at 61% with Dvd Shrink with CRC error.Everything I try says that it is VTS_01_5 that is bad.
All 3 copies were brand new no scatches. I guess I'll have to what to see if AnyDvd gets a fix for.

Thanks for all your help
I'll keep checking back to see if anyone has got this one to burn.

Try turning off the AnyDVD and use RipIt4Me 1.7.1.0. If you don't have a copy you can pick it up at Softpedia.com (have the last versions of DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink installed before RI4M is installed). Or try the DVDFab HD Decrypter from DVDIdle.com (again, no using the AnyDVD). AnyDVD can be a good program, but sometimes when used in certain combinations it can be a pain. Let us know how that turns out.

I notice you did an exchange without doing a read scan of the DVD. Not exactly the way to go. Run a read scan to see if there are bad sectors and you know for sure. If unfamiliar, the programs usually indicate the color of dots representing bad sectors on a graph. The free DVDInfoPro does a read scan. Utilities in Nero and other recording utilities will do the same. Anyone planning on doing a lot of backups should learn how to do a read scan. If anything like my experience, you'll see some bad presses along the way.

I have not had any luck with the backup either. DVD FAB Platinum stopped at 61% to inform me of an error reading the sector. If I ignore all errors the backup doesn't work. From the looks of things the VTS_01_0.IFO and the VTS_01_0.BUP files are affected.

I have tried this on 3 different PC's with no luck.

Anyone else tried to back up this movie?

How do I do a read scan I have nero 7 Ultra
That pointed to the VTS files you're having trouble with. The scan will show red dots where bad sectors are located. An occasional bad sector may not cause problems, but when you have them clustered, they usually prevent copying. In such a situation the disc will sometimes play, but not record properly. Heres the path to running Scandisc for doing a read scan.

You'll need AnyDVD or DVD Region + CSS Free to bypass copy protection or the scan will read the protection as bad sectors. Slysoft and DVDIdle have trials you can use.

StartSmart/Tools/Nero CD-DVD Speed/Scandisc (tabs)

The drive with the DVD should be listed at the top. If not, select it from the drop box. To the right Read Test should be checked under Settings. Under Surface Scan you have the colors to read the graph.

Ok I did the scandisc and it showed just a couple of red dots about half way threw but no big cluster of red dots. I have been backing up my movie for about 4 yrs now and this is one has been the most difficult one yet. So I ended up hooking up one of my dvd players to my vcr/dvd burner and burnt the movie that way.
I guess I'll wait a while to see if AnyDVD can fix it so I can burn the whole disc. Was over in their forum and a few other people are having same trouble.

Hope someone can figure this one out

That release isn't available locally. I've ordered a copy to see what I can do with it. It'll be sometime next week before I get it. I'm curious to see what it's doing.

ok I got it to work for movie only

used dvd fab 3200 choose movie only and when it got to unreadable part chose ignore all,
went right through it to the end.

Ran all those resulting files through fixvts.

then dvd shrink to process these movie files and reauthor for movie only.

shaved one or two ticks on the beginning and end.(this part may not be necessary)

ran shrink an burned it

plays perfect.

if this helped you let me know

I finally got my copy of the DVD. Use the latest DVDFab HD Decrypter (the freebie). Rip the movie to the HD. About half way through the rip an error warning comes up about a read error. Select ignore all. Once the movie is ripped to the HD open it in DVD Shrink or whatever. FixVTS isn't needed (at least when I did it). I ripped the full DVD, encoded it with RB/CCE and burned with Nero Express. I did the transcode with Shrink and that worked as well.

RipIt4Me and DVD Decrypter wouldn't do this one properly.

Ripping with DVDFab HD Decrypter the files ripped to the HD are the same size as the DVD. Little to nothing is lost during decrytion. Collier & Co. Hot Pursuit was an easy backup.
