They always say that they will fix it, but it doesn't seem to happen! I have the Premium, and I think this is my 4th now! I've heard that someone got it on their Xbox 360 Halo Edition!

How often does it happen - no telling but it has effected A LOT of consoles

Does is happen more often in some versions then others- No, i do not think the RROD has any prejudice. It is pretty much every console that MS released

Is Xbox Planning to make a new xbox with has a perminate fix to the problem??- From what i have heard, yes. End of this year or beginning of next year.

But I highly doubt that they will fix it! They "SAY" they will fix it, but I don't think they will...

yeah, it is really anyone's guess at this point. The claim is a new motherboard and such so hopefully if they went that far they fixed it. It is in their best interest because if not they will be fixing consoles forever and costing them billions.

If thats true, then that is beyond pathetic. So is the only way to get a reliable 360 to buy one, red ring it on purpose and then fix it? They should just come with a repair kit like inner tubes do.

Well then it looks like MS is in for more years of fixing them. You would really think that Microsoft would want to research and fix the problems before the next generation is released. All the problems do is make your customer base mad, and cost the company money.

I do not know if I will support Microsoft in the next generation. I have owned nearly every system released in the states since the NES, and I have never seen anything with such poor workmanship be sold to gamers. The only systems of mine that has ever broken have been my 360s, twice. Even my Intellivision works!

Hahaha so true. MS should look into that after market x clamp that many 360 owners have had success with.

I made a backup of my Halo 3 and when I started to play it at started to act funny on the screen. I powered off and back on and I got the red ring of death. I think it is the same one. Red lights around the on button. What causes this? Is it something MS put on the disc to cause this?

I wouldn't think that you motherboard is fried! Check to make sure that all of the cables are connected! I had the Component Cables Disconnected and it would flash like that to me! The RRoD is when only 3 of the lights are blinking RED!

That is what I have, 3 red red lights. Do you mean you had your componet cable disconnected at the TV ot on the 360 end?

the reason for the ring of death is because of the gay way MS designed the GPU Heatsink

Its narrow and unlike the CPU heatsink it has a heat pipe
Fixing the ring of death can be done by removing the X-clamp

or cleaning the CPU and GPU chip
along with botch heatsinks

(DO NOT DO THE GAY TOWEL TRICK IT WILL MESS UP THE 360
is u wanna re-soilder the chips unplug the fan so that the chips can Overheat
and not the whole system

Are you saying that all I need to do is clean the inside of the xbox?

You need to do the x-clamp-fix go to the x-clamp-fix.com or google those key words and you will see how to fix it.

Basically you have to remove the clamps that hold the heat sinks and use some screws, bolts and washers to hold it down tighter insteas.

See what happens is the motherboard becomes so hot that it warps in the middle, when this happens the solder looses and has no contact, this causes the rings of death, so the idea with the fix is to raise the board and prevent it warpping, this fixes the red ring of death.
