can someone please tell me what are good DVD+R DL to use. Can any brand work? Please let me know. I just got my XBOX360 and trying to get the MODING up and running. Also can someone please tell me how to EXTREME MOD my XBOX360. It would really help out alot.

I have used Verbatim DVD+R DLs for over 80 burns and every single one of them has worked perfectly. I would recommend getting some of those. Microcenter has a sale on them this week as well.

Thats a good price. Everywhere I see its $40-$50. Do you know about moding the xbox360. I was going to pay someone to do it, but if its easy to do I would to it myself.

There are some really good guides here, as well as a lot of people with a lot of knowledge on the subject. Depending on how comfortable you are with electronics I would recommend to research the processs a bit, make sure you have all the necessary hardware/software, and do it yourself. You don't need any prior knowledge of working with consoles or other electronics, it would only help your own comfort level. The bonuses to doing it yourself are (a) cheaper, (b) you can be sure of what firmware you are running in relevance to certain features, stealth, etc, plus have dumps of your original firmware (c) if updated firmware is released and you want to upgrade is a very simple to repeat the flashing process once you have done it once. Plus, the first backup you play is more fun when you do it yourself.

YEa thats true, but cant really find anything here to help out. If they had pics that would help out alot. I got a PSP and I had it since day 1 any have had no problems w/it. I change the firmware some much cuz it keeps changing.

Do a search using the words: textbook, 360, hacking, and you will get an excellent pdf with lots of pictures. I picked up some super cheap DVD +R DL's from Circuit city ($25 for 25) and some from Office Depot ($30 for 25) and have yet to make a bad burn with either. Most DVD purists will thumb their noses at these but since these are all backups only and not videos, I don't care if they last for just a year or so. If they end up going bad after time, I'll just bring out the original and burn another.

What you will be doing is flashing new firmware onto the DVD drive of your 360. Extreme is the older firmware version that is considered obsolete as it should no longer be used if you intend to long onto Live. Iextreme is the new firmware that should be used. Flashing the firmware of the dvd drive allows it to read backups. First, you will need to identify what kind of dvd drive your console has and see whether or not you can flash it (Samsung and Hitachi yes, BenQ not yet). After that, you have to find out what version (the hitachi 79s are the most difficult, everything else is pretty easy). Then you have to make sure you have a compatibe SATA card or mobo in your system for the flash you are trying to use, as well as the encessary software found in the guides. Also, if you plan on backing up your own games, you will need a DVD-ROM rive with Kreon firmware on it, which you can get on eBay, and a DL burner to burn your games.

Thanks, but where do I look to see what kind of dvd drive it has, and what is softmod. Is that a good for the 360. I have someone here in town that says they can put softmod on it for $50

Softmod is a fimrware flash of the dvd drive as I described above. This picture will show you what dvd drive you have:

You cannot find out what kind of Samsung or Hitachi you have without opening up the box I do not believe. It is on the label on the top of the dvd drive itself when you remove the console shell and metal protection plate. Since even thought this is considered a "softmod" of the 360 but does still involve hardware removal, etc, you may want to have someone do it for you.

Yes, as long as you have a DVD drive that is compatible with flashing he will be able to make it play backups for you.
