i just bought the disc today and i was wondering if this is possible?

i noticed there was a game i had ffX but theres no codes so i went to site uploaded the file to my jumpdrive and then connected it to the front of the ps2, booted up the game but no response it loads up like normal but never comes up to the screen? do i have to buy a gameshark specific jump drive to accomplish this? thanks
