Where is the best spot to place a 3.3v mod chip?

I read that it is important to have very short wires for the 3.3v power and ground, but the installation diagrams for the Duo 3 Ultra modchip make this confusing. On the installation diagram, the spot for the 3.3v power is near the power/eject input jack and the ground is way on the other side of the board near main power and audio video jack.

Do they want me to place the mod chip in the very center of the board, so that the power and ground wires are at an even distance apart? Or would it be best if I place the mod chip closest to the power, or would it be even better to place the mod chip closest to the ground?

Or if anybody wants to really help me out, you could supply me with diagrams for the alternative 3.3v power and ground points for a v7 motherboard. Then I could find the best spot on my own, but any help on this topic will be much appreciated, thanks.
