Just an interesting email that i received since i tested the original program out with one of their people on the 360. I would not get too excited until it is tested and working though. Because from what i understand there is no way around the ping limiter as it is not software, it is built into the hadware of the 360. And some programs do already work as long as the host does not have a ping above 25-35ms or around those parts.

Dear Leaf User,

Thank you for participating in our beta trials for the last 9 months. We
are making our official public release of Leaf (we dropped the 2006) and
would like to invite you to upgrade free of charge.

Now that we have general release, we would like to ask you to invite your
friends, family, co-workers and others to come download Leaf and join your
network.

Soon we will be offering several new and exciting plug-ins, namely:

* Digital Living Network Alliance plug-in
* UPnP plug-in
* Xbox 360 with ping limitation solution
* Remote desktop plug-in

* Upgrading is easy and free! You can either:
- Visit the website, http://www.leafnetworks.net/download.html, and down
load the latest version, or
- Launch your current version of Leaf and follow the prompt asking you to
upgrade.

I guess that's cool, but I'm fine with paying the $50 a year to play Xbox Live! More people seem to communicate more on there, and I like that!

Just went and downloaded it then. It looks like a great idea. Only problem with it i guess is that you need your own friends list. You can't just jump into a game with a heap of randoms like on live. Maybe someone should start a bit of a friends list on these forums so that we can get a heap of people joining up...?? Just a suggestion. Otherwise i do intend to give it a go.

Ok, just to clear some stuff up. Leaf Networks is a private network for you and friends to use. And like i said i still doubt hightly that it will work for the 360 for most people. Now due to the ping timer there are some that may still be able to get it working for them. It is hit or miss.

If you wanted public programs then Xlink Kai and XBConnect would be your choice. But again, it will only work connecting to some people.

That is why i gladly pay for Xbox Live personally. You can always connect to everyone. Plus $50 a year for online gaming and being able to talk with buddies from all over the world for hours on end is well worth it.

Agreed. I don't even play on Live that much. For the times I do don't mind paying $50 a year to have the fullest and most robust online gaming experience possible.

Yeah paying for Xbox Live is definitely worth it for me.

It's reliable, works flawlessly (99% of the time), plus I can download game demos and HD game trailers which I would otherwise have to pay for from sites like Gamespot, IGN and Xbox 360 magazines. Sure, it doesn't have reviews but they are readily available on the net for no cost whatsoever.

It is my understanding that they are still working on it. It sounds like they will soon start testing a beta version out.

I tested the last version with someone from Leaf Network. We could see each others game but could never connect. Now on the PC side it worked fine. We could share files and so on. But the 360 ping timer on the games just makes all of those free programs about worthless right now. Original Xbox games like Halo 2 should work fine though because they have no ping timer.
