the first thing you must know is that my isp is literaly the oldest cable company in the world (service electric cable tv, look it up) so the network im on is ancient and is very poor. the vast majority of the people in service electrics area only have the option of ONE WAY cable internet! i have two way. it is provided over service electrics coax by prolog/penteldata.
they have no high speed competitors aside from satalite so they have the power to tell people they can only use 50 gigs a month or they will turn off their internet, even though the service agreements they signed all say "unlimited" when usage is defined (they tried pulling that shit on me, i promptly called them and reamed them out, they havent bothered me since). as you can see they will do anything including abusing their customers just to avoid spending the money to upgrade. they charge 40 bucks a month for those 50 gigs, its decently fast but a 50 gig limit is a joke.
anyway, i know other people on their network can get on xbl and ps online just fine, but im not sure if they are usuing the same connection type as me. service electrics total network is a mish mash of garbage. i know it works on the one way cable they offer. it wouldnt suprise me if they were hording upload bandwidth, and thus blocking xbl and pso connections on the two way networks. a few years ago i tried getting ps online connected, i never could. my isp couldnt help a damn lick, they were totaly worthless.
i just went through every option trying to get connected to xbl 360 but it would not pass the IP test, even when it was plugged right into the modem and power cycled.
i swear im not retarded, i know how to open ports. i tried making it the dmz, not even that worked. i have my router configured perfectly to go with my gnutela client and i get great performance out of it, no problems. i also play unreal online all the time just fine. game systems are the only thing i cant get to connect right!
