My PSP console seems to have issues reading UMDs and the laser seemingly needs cleaning. Though, I don't find this particularly worrying, as I only play CSO/ISO games anyway.

What I'm interested in is that will I still be able to launch ISO/CSOs even though my laser can't read UMDs? I ask because when a ISO/CSO is launched, the PSP unit attempts to read the UMD (you can hear the drive whirring) but launches the game instead. Is it necessry for the PSP unit to read the UMD in order to launch the ISO/CSO on my MS?

I don't think it's relevant, but just in case;

When your in the XMB press the select button so the VSH menu comes up.

Now go to UMD MODE and make sure it is set to Sony NP9660

This will pretty much play 99% of the ISO/CSO files that are out there without having a UMD in the bay.

Impressive.

Cheers m8.

I actually just wanted to know cuz I'm searching for PSPs to purchase online which have faulty lasers, and hopefully they will be sold for a really low price :).
