OK my buddys xbox 360 will no longer read disks, the dvd drive is the only thing wrong with it, there are no red lights or anything. I was thinking about giving him 50 bucks for it and then buying a new dvd drive off ebay. Is that all im gonna need or will i have to get certain things for the new dvde drive to work. As you can see ive been out of the scene for a while blink.gif

ok, if you do that and you buy a new drive off of ebay, either A) make sure the drive you buy to replace it is the same brand and model to make things easier or B) buy any brand, spoof it, and play. I'm not sure about swapping drives other than you need your drive key and it needs to be the same brand

You could just try replacing the laser.
Mine stopped reading discs after around 8 months, got the laser replaced and now it's working sweet.
