im trying to backup my copy of the new Blade House of Chthon. and ripit4me doesnt work...so i read up on here and downloaded DVDFab platinum and successfuly got it onto my hard drive.

i went to burn with shrink (nero in the background) and it failed right after it got done encoding. so i tried again, re-ripped the movie, saving it to C:\

and tried to use DVD Fab's "write Data" option. and it says Please make sure there is correct media in F: drive. which there is, some brand new Verbs.

this is the log:

edit**: when i click START on dvdfab to start the writing process, after it says "make sure there is writeable media in drive F:" i click OK, and it seems like its trying to open nero, but then it pops up saying "DVD burn process failed, try again?"

just thought id add that piece.

Those logs are Greek to me, but the movie you are asking about seems to be causing a lot of people trouble.

Take a look at this thread, it's the same movie you are having problems with.

yeah i had read through all that. i successfully just burned it using DVDFabs "VSO burning engine." but i am still curious as to why it will not work with nero.

i looked in the settings and DVD Fab pulls up "nerocmd.exe" which is a DOS file that runs, instead of the main nero startup icon like normal. who knows, but using the VSO Burning engine it worked!

Was that the complete log? It said at the end the session was just starting.

I did the movie, but using a slightly different method. The DVDFab HD Decrypter has the same decryption software as Platinum. So far the DVDIdle programs are the only ones that will properly do House of Chthon. I ripped to the hard drive with DVDFab HD Decrypter, encoded with RB/CCE and then burned with Nero Express. I could have used ImgBurn which is supported by RB (like DVD Decrypter and Nero with Shrink). I tried it with Shrink and Nero and that worked. I have no idea why you would want to call on Nero to burn for Platinum. It does a good job as you found out. That's similar to CloneDVD 2, DVDCopy 5 and other encoders with onboard burning programs. I'll have to give the call on Nero, using Platinum, sometime to see how that works out. I suspect DVDIdle has that worked out fairly well by now. If you suspect there's a problem, report it to Fengtao. He's the author and a regular on the DVDFab forum at CD Freaks.

Update your burner's firmware and try it again using that deive. The current version is 1.22 for your usb drive and you can get it here:

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2331

Your IDE drive
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K16D 1.10 [E] (Ide)

It might need an update as well.

Everyone is having success with DVDFab but me..
I have been trying all day to rip Wild Hogs. but I keep getting error messages.. I succeeded in getting only the Video files onto my hard drive. I dont know why it dosnt put the sound files on as well.

Dvd shrink has died completely on me..
I keep getting this sign when I try to rip something..

Dvd Shrink encountered and error and cannot continue

Failed to read file "I:\"

I know other people had this problem.. But I dont really understand what I should do about it..

I have used dvd shrink succesfully before.. But now its more like the worlds most annoying program.

The sound is included in the Video_TS folder. I'd be surprised if you found anything in an Audio_TS folder. Did you try playing the ripped files?

Shrink's decryption software is obsolete. The new copy protections keep coming and Shrink hasn't been updated for a long time. It's still a good transcoding (shrinking) program, but you need another program to bypass the newer copy protections. DVDFab HD Decrypter is about the best of the bunch. I used to use RipIt4Me, but a few movies have come out that will stump it. RI4M no longer has support.
