First working SATA-PC drive on Xbox360 - Update
>> From TMF on xboxhacker.net
The Philips DROM6316 drive is still using x360 retail benq firmware and dvd key. A small modification enables to run backups.
(please don't ask for the firmware, it's not my project and still not finished!!) Eject function is now almost fixed. Open/close tray options also works through dashboard.

proof video on youtube here

(thanks to Schtrom, Redline99, Uberfry, Tiros, TheXone and some other guys)

X-S note: This is not new information, but a progress update. It will hopefully be possible in the future to run a ixtreme variant on this drive.

They've actually been working on this for awhile now. They've also done it with a Hitachi drive. Unfortunately this isn't a "normal" pc drive. It's a Dell specific drive and they are pretty hard to find. You're not going to be able to pop over to Newegg and order one.

I've been following the progress but haven't found out just what the "small modification" is (unless I missed it). I'm assuming it must be a hardware mod. If it were a firmware mod with them using the 360 Benq firmware, then obviously that would mean the 360's with Benq drives could now be flashed.
