Hi fellas. I'm a little experienced in the whole modding business. I have a modded ps2 (crystal chip) wii (wiikey), a ds (m3), and a psp with custom firmware.

Anyways, I am new the 360 scene. I don't own a 360, but I plan on getting one for Christmas, and was wondering what other accessories are needed for playing backups. I would like to be able to play XBOX and XBOX360 backups. Would I need a mod chip, or would I need to flash my firmware? If there is anywhere that I can buy premodded, or preflashed xboxes, please let me know, if not, please tell me which type of 360 to buy, and all that is needed to play backups. thanks a lot!

all you need to do is flash the firmware, you can find out info on that with search but if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself look for one on sell.com.
you will also need a kreon flashed dvd reader to rip your backups, both xbox1 and 360 and plenty of dl dvds as the xbox1 backups need to be on them as well, you will also need a dual layer burner, most any will work.
the software you will need is xbc 2.4 or better and if you dont plan on downloading the games it is all you need to get started.

Thanks a lot. I dont plan on downloading actual 360 games, although i do plan on using xbox live and downloading arcade games. Is it possible to play online with a flashed firmware if i use an original copy? Also, would I need anything like a Blaster360, etc. to make flashing easier? Thanks a lot.

If you want to make Xbox 360 back ups then you really only have three choices.
1. download them
2. make them with a involved method that includes opening your 360 DVD drive
3. Buy a Samsung SH-D162C or SH-D163A DVD-Rom drive flash with Kreon firmware for your PC

not all regular Xbox hgames will work (see Xbox.com for compatibility list). And i think back ups for Xbox need to be made a certain way in order to play on your 360.
