Is the 20gig/120gig hard drive worth it?

Is the harddrive actually worth the money? I just won an xbox360, however it came with no harddrive. You cant save actual games on the harddrive can you? For example you go rent a game, copy it to the harddrive then play it anytime you want? Or is it basically just like a big memory card and only saves saved games, stats, etc etc?

Depending on what you do, yes it is worth it but only spend money for what you need. For Xbox Live you have to have a hard drive. You also need one if you plan to download any content off of XBL Marketplace like movies, gamerpacks, arcade games, movies, tv shows or updated map packs or level for certain games.

I think for the average user a 20GB will be plenty. Unless you plan to do a lot of the above. The only games that you can have on your hard drive are the one's that you download from the marketplace. So yes, if you buy them online at the marketplace instead of getting the disc from a store then it will be on the hard drive.

The downfall is if something goes wrong with your system your $60 may be down the drain.

you don't need a hard drive to use xbox live, you can get on xbox live with just a mem card, all you need is something to save your xbox live gamer profile. if you plan to just save games and play live then just get mem card, if you plan on doing what steimy mentioned then get the hdd.

You guys forgot to mention that if you want to play your Xbox 1 games on the 360 then you'll need the hdd.
