I wanted to get another XBOX360 DVD Drive for my computer because I think it be easier that downloading the games from a web site. Does anyone recommend doing this. I just dont want to take my DVD DRIVE out of my XBOX360 to do this or does anyone have some games they like to start a new 360 owner out with.

buy either a sh-d163c or sh-d163a samsung drive. You can either buy it with or without kreon firmware update (you need this to read x360 discs). You can buy these drives slightly cheaper than an x360 drive and are alot less hassle.

agree with above. The Samsung drive for your PC will make backing up your games a simple process.
Make sure you get the right kind
SH-D162C (IDE)
SH-D163A (SATA)
either will work. And get one while you can as they were discontinued so when the supply runs out there are no more. Ebay you can usually find them.

I have seen them all over ebay going for about $50-$60. Thats w/the shipping.
Does it need to have firmware on it to read the original XBOX360 game and do you know what kind of connections it will need to be a plug in play.

They are both ribbons really. The IDE is usually a big flat grey ribbon. The SATA is much, uch smaller and usually red or blue. Both types are plug and play.

IDE

SATA

yes the drive must be flashed to read Xbox games.

And Xbox Backup Creator 2.6 and IMGburn are the programs a lot of people use for ripping/buring of the games.

Also Verbatim DVD+R DL dual layer discs are needed. And of course a dual layer burner.
