I created a DVD+R of video from my camcorder.
I used xilisoft's DVD Ripper and created each vob title set at
resolution: 720x480, 7000 bitrate, 30 fps, and created a dvd folder in 16:9 aspect ratio with xilisoft DVD Creator.
The video plays successfully without any problems...BUT, it shows the pixels. Alittle rough looking.
What did I do wrong?
You don't mention what camera, what you used to capture or transfer the video or what format you started with, but I'll take a stab at it anyway. Camcorder footage, especially hand held and lots of motion need lots of bandwidth. Perhaps the Xilisoft encoder isn't up to the task. There are probably better tools out there.
It's a hitachi camcorder using mini dvds. I copied it through my dvd recorder onto a full size dvd+r into mpeg-2.
I had also made another DVD from my Philips DVD recorder of music videos, and with the same settings, the pixels still show.
I had used aspect ratio 16:9 fullscreen. Should I have selected 16:9 letterboxed?
Or used the 4:3?
I think I found the problem... My dvd player/recorder.
I had to change the display ratio to 4:3 letterboxed, and now the dvd's look better, and look great on the widescreen portable dvd player.
But I do have a question...
Should I use the aspect ratio 16:9 Letterboxed, or 16:9 Fullscreen method when creating the dvd?
On the two dvd's I created I had used 16:9 Fullscreen and black bars appear slightly on the sides of the fullscreen tv's.
