New modchip for Wii (pal)?

Hi,
I am about to purchase a new Wii console for christmas in the UK. As it will be from a reputable retailer I am assuming it will be the latest version of console. Am I correct in saying that there currently is no modchip for this version of console? Is it just a case of waiting until one is out?
Is there an easy way of finding out when this modchip is available?
My very basic knowledge on this subject has led me to believe that currently a cyclowiz or wiikey modchip is available at the moment. Would either of these do the job and if so which is the better? (or should I be patient and wait for a new modchip)?
Sorry for lots of questions but I hope you get the gist of what I need.

Please help.
