Hello all, this is my first post!

I have a question. I have been searching around but I havent found one clear cut answer.

I have began backing up my games and playing them succesfully on the latest update of iXtreme firmware. I am still weary about going on XBL though.

My friend has no problem, and has been playing for about 3 months on XBL (running back ups).

Is there a website that someone can give me a link to that describes what is known about the detecting of backup games and getting the banstick? (or how iXtreme defeats XBL detection?)

Here is what i know:
-MS doesent scan the firmware itself
-MS Detects and bans on the premise of non stealthed games
-Almost impossible to be banned playing an original game on iXtreme Firmware? (on XBL)

Correct me if im wrong.

Thanks in advance guys.

Alright, everything you've just stated is correct.
There is a website that I read once that gave all the technical binary loggings that occur when the 360 is being checked... but that was a couple months ago (it's probably changed since then) and they never made sense of what the binary meant.
But the bottom line is this: as of right now, if your copies are stealthed, like they have to be for ixtreme, then you will not be banned from XBL. I personally don't find it likely that they'll be able to ban people with stealthed games and systems BUT that's not to say that they CAN'T. It's still a possibility that they could ban you in the future.

As for how ixtreme defeats XBL detection, that's simple. Microsoft can't detect your custom firmware, so all they have to go off of is the information that the dvd drive sends them. When a game is booted up, it reads the Disk Manufacturing Information (DMI.bin), the Security Sector (SS.bin), and the PFI.bin fle (don't know the acronym for that). If any of these don't seem to be correct, they'll ban you. Also, if the drive takes too long to respond, or responds too fast to a challenge request from XBL, then they'll ban your. But with ixtreme, the challenge response time is not (as of now) an issue. Same with all the other stuff.

seen that question a few times on here and the answer is always 'yes' it is ok to update. I also think you will HAVE to update before you can play some of the older games you have, or go on XBL.. Hope this helps :)
