Need help with PS2 slim. I was using the swap magic techique but over time the tape on the rear sensor would move and I would have to open the system and retpae. I thought I would super glue it in place but after I did, the disk would not spin at all. I tried removing the glue but broke the switch. I read in a post that you can use alum foil to make contact and get the unit to work. Has anyone tired this or any other methods to get the unit to work with the rear sensor missing. I tried looking for the part on the web with no luck.

The aluminium foil does work, if the top of the switch was removed(broken off), leaving the two contacts in the bottom of the switch visible. If the switch has completely come off, then you will have to solder the 4 points together with a single wire, this will be a permanent fix, and you will not have to hassle sensor switch again, since it will always read as the lid is closed.

Good job, my brother used a thin piece of cardboard from a cereal box instead and it worked fine.

I have the same issue as well. I have tried using foil and cardbox to cover the metal part. I believe i may need to solder some things, but im not sure what. I do see 2 metal things coming out of 2/4 sides of the sensor. I am not sure if im being clear here but any help is appreciated. Thanks

Solder the two metal connections visible at the base of the switch, and you should be okay, if that doesnt work, solder the 4 terminal of the switch together.

Theres 2 contacts visible in the base of the switch, you can either connect these together by using aluminium foil, bettery even, soldering them together, an alternative is to solder the 4 terminals that are around the switch together, does the same thing.

I just used this method and it worked, but i forgot to unplug the power source! The aluminum foil slipped and touched the copper area that it's next to the area of the switch, i instantly had a spark and now the unit does not work. please be careful and don't forget to unplug!

if you can help, i reported the problem here
