Problem updating to 1.9b?

I updated my firmware 1.9b, then adjusted the settings on my set up disk so I can finally play eternal darkness. After playing for about an hour, I switched to wii back-up and got a disk read error for the first time ever, and I have had the wiikey installed for 6 months. I powered down a couple times and now the wii backups are working again. Could this be because I switched my wiikey drive speed to 3X?, or is it something else?. Also, what are my optimal settings for my setup disc?, particulerly the drive speed. Thanks!

DO NOT MESS WITH THE DRIVE SPEED!

All you need to do with the setup disk is to turn on Region Override. That's it.

Changing it to 3x does make it easier to read dvd's and hence make some games work

this has never been proven that slower is better

i have a wii set to 6x read , record my games with 16x and it work normal no games have problem with reading erorr... so speed it not matter .
