im using:
Windows XP
VIA Serial ATA RAID VT6421 card
TS-H943A ms25
current fw: xtreme 5.3
Boot Method: iPrep'd USB Drive w/iXtreme 1.2c

i successfully flashed my drive about 2 months ago w/t xtreme 5.3 firmware for 2 reasons:

1. i couldnt get xtremebootmaker to recognize the ixtreme fw so i jus used 5.3
2. i didnt plan on going on Live anyway

2 months later my buddy moves to texas and somehow thinks he can beat MY ass in NBA2K8 - now i need Live ...

My problem:
Shortly after i flashed my PC w/5.3 my PC crashed and i had to reformat and lost the original firmware.
- can i even reflash the drive without it?

Also I made a USB boot drive and attempted to iFLASH ####### ##### and i get this:

Port:dcA0
Master/Slave:a0

and it just idles with the flashing _and im unable to give another command, unless i hit ctrl+c and then i receive:

status=51, should be 70

ive been searching various sites and i keep seeing this "10 second trick" mentioned but i dont quiet get it - tried it and same results ...
also i've tried typing:

XFLASH ####### ##### - unknown command
and
MTK Flash r/m/sata orig.bin - i believe i received the same results

could the reformat have deleted something critical that made the first flash sucessful?

all i want to do is beat this cat 2 or 3 times in 2K so whats the likelyhood that i would be banned if i went on Live w/t xtreme 5.3 firmware if my NBA2K8 is patched and stealthed?

1- you have to first put the drive in 0800 mode or use the bad flash method before you can read/write the firmware. It was in the 5.3 nfo.

2- as long as you have a proper stealth, 5.3 will be safe on Live. You can use XDVDMulleter to check if your backups are "iXtreme Compatable". If so, whether you're using iXtreme or not, they're safe.

Personally, the bad flash method is a pain. The timing varys too much between drives. If you have a proper MTKFlash, I'd suggest doing it manually. That's the way I do it and running between my 2 pc's I can read then write in 4 minutes.

again u helped me out - much appreciated ...

so if the backups are properly stealth i "should" be ok? i think i'll jus leave it w/t 5.3 cause theres only a few backups i want to play online and they are all stealthed scene rls ...

thanks for the advice - if/when i decide to upgrade, ur #1 suggestion will be the first thing i try ...
