First off let me say that I tried a search and it didn't work out to well for me. I am in the PS3 discussion countless times each week and have thought about buying a wii for the wife and kids. How do I mod it? I've been seeing wiikey but is that the only solution? Also if for some reason I can't get it to play backups is there any way to hack the virtual console to play roms that I have and use with pc emulators like zsnes, project 64, and fceu? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

wiikey is no use if you buy a new wii and its a d2c chipset as its not compatible

read other posts in here to find out which chip will work

if u get a d2b chip u will be ok with wiikey

u can use emulators by creating a config disk off the wiikey site and putting the roms in the correct folders prior to burning

Ok cool. Thats all I needed to know. So I would be better off getting a used wii as many of the new ones have this new chipset. That will not be a problem seeing that I can probably just trade a new one to a friend for his that he got back in February.
