3.71 sony and 3.71 M33 FW WHATS THE DIFFERENCE. I thought everything firmware wise was through wifi psp download?? New to the psp. I'm sure others will benefit as well from the answer which to some may seem stupid but he who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

The difference is M33 is a Custom Firmware. On 3.71 Sony, all you can do is what Sony wants you do to. On M33, you can play ISO's, Homebrew Apps and games, and use cool plugins. You can do all of this while maintaining everything Sony has to offer. On Sony firmware you cannot do any of the things I've listed. M33 was created by the M33 team, but now revealed as Dark_AleX once again. These hackers create this custom firmware by using part of Sony's firmware to create the best thing your PSP can ask for.

firmware can either be installed with wifi or through the memory stick.
3.71 m33 is custom firmware. it unlocks the limits of the psp that sony firmware doesn't allow. you can play the games off the memory stick, play original playstation games, run emulators, use it as a remote (fat psp only), and fully customize the main menu.
of course, if the psp breaks down, and you send it to sony for repair, sony will not accept it because of the custom firmware. but if you put back sony firmware, then they'll fix it.

Thank You thank YOU thank you. To all that answered. You both made it very easy for me to understand as well as being professional about me being new, kudos. You both gave me info I needed. I now know to use the memory card for firmware hacks etc... as well as letting me know of which I prefer to use Sony 3.71 or the hacked version.

I was wondering now which would be version would be good for GPS 290 which I have and is the basis to the entire thread. Man is there like 80 different ways to do the GPS via whats on the net. Nothing is clear or straight forward. It seems like allot is left out or quickly said so as to not get what they are trying to say etc..... I see allot of people on the net and HERE saying the same things about GPS and PSP "ITS CONFUSING" yet there are those out there that have done it. If I get it down pat and working I will make a vid tutorial so as to help others. Regards, Thanks again.

we prefer to call it custom firmware. hacking is more of unauthorized access to another computer. (and we don't do that. it's bad)

ANY ONE PLS HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my psp is now 3.71 m33-2 and when i play games there is no sound i check the sound volume and it is full pls help me.........
