Yes, I've read and searched and searched again but I'm still confused at to the best way to mod my (fat) ps2 the way I want it. If anyone could provide me with answers to any of the following questions it would be deeply appreciated.

1) What is the cheapest mod chip that can play both my ps2 back ups on DVDs and on my hard drive as well as home brew (SNES etc.). (by cheap I mean least expensive, if possible and allowed, pm me a link to it)

2) Does this chip play all backed up ps2 games to date, if not, is there a list?

3) What are all the softwares I will be needing for this adventure? (for the chip, converting hard drive for use to ps2, for putting games on hard drive, whats ever firmwares and whatever else; + links to them)

4) How do I get a hard drive onto my (fat) v7 ps2? Do I simply connect it with the ribbon cable? (that's what I originally thought but then I saw threads talking about a LAN adapter exploit)

5) Links to the best guides for getting my game backup files onto DVDs and hard drives for playing on the ps2.

I know it may seem like I'm asking a lot but I've researched all of this and came up with different answers to the same question and I'm now quite confused.

1) no cheap modchip can play homebrews. they don't have any type of memory stored on the chip. you will need to pay for a quality chip. the three best chips out are: matrix infinity green dot, crystal chip 2.0, and DMS4.

2. any modchip will play all games.

3. usually the official website of the modchip have the software needed. also, you will need hdloader for your hdd. can be found at sksapps.com

4. to get a hdd to work on your ps2, you WILL need a network adapter. the network adapter powers and reads the hdd. there is no other way to power the hdd.

5. any guide needed can be found here at aD.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

You don't need one of those expensive modchips to use an snes emulator on you're ps2. If you can get the emulator and the roms on a disc you're ps2 will play it, if it can play ps2 backups.
