Does any one have information on troubleshooting and repairing PSP's. I googled it but all i get is "pay for our guide" services. A while back I dropped my PSP it wasn't the first time but this time it fell from about 6 feet I had the soft cover on it, not that it helped much. After that it will turn on but there is no light on the screen, no sound, nothing, and it will not turn off unless I remove the battery. There are no visible cracks in the screen and with the fact it won't turn off I don't think it's the screen. I have already purchased a new one, but would like to repair this one for use as a homebrew machine. I have a background in electronics but I need a guide so I can troubleshoot it. Any info on what may be wrong or directions to a guide would be much appreciated.

all i can provide is the disassembly guide from acidmods. go HERE for the guide. you might be able to see if you have a loose connection or if something is broken.

also, if you want, you can do lots of aesthetic mods, since the psp is apart. acidmods will provide guides on certain mods people have done.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

OK I disassembled it but there is nothing physycally broken on the inside. It still has the green LED when I turn it on but nothing else happens and it still won't turn off without removing the battery. Anybody ran into anything like this? I guess I will try the pandora battery but I'm doubtfull it will work, since the psp is not bricked.....at least not in the usual way. If any one has any other ideas please let me know. Thanks cee and kik for the info.

My guess is it somehow broke the power supply or something, because of the fact it won't turn off without removing the battery. I'm considering ordering a new button circuit board with the power switch on it. But I'm worried I'll spend more money trying to fix it than it's worth and it will still be broke. Just thought I'd see if anyone could direct me to a troubleshooting guide. I've searched the net with no luck. But thanks again for the suggestions. I'll let you know if the pandora method helps or not.

don't think there would be a guide for it, but if you're paying around 1/2 the price of your psp then don't.buy a new psp, but this time with a wristband :P
