Can anyone recommend a suitable external dvd writer that will allow me to use my laptop to make back ups. My pioneer dvr- k16 internal laptop drive keeps making coasters. 10 in total now(unrecognised disc). So whats my best bet for an external drive?

Thanks for the help!!!

Not sure wot u mean. What do you mean by an external enclousure? Is this a caddy? Would you be able to recommend one?

Thanks for the reply!

@J_Bhoy
What media are you using - like Sony +R 16x?
Whose the manufacturer of the laptop - they may have a firmware update that might help.

If you want to go the external route - I'd recommend a LiteOn - around $70 (US) for an external.

In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

Sure LiteOn or any drive actually will burn iso's. Check out the tutorial in the Xbox backup forum for creating an iso.

Verb are the best dual layer to use & usually the most supported firmware wise.
I couldn't find one either - updates for Acer and Medion but none for this HP oem drive.
HP has yet to update the firmware on my laptop drive either (different make & model). They're not always the best at keeping these up to date.

So for dual layer burning your best bet is more then likely getting an external. These Verbs will more than likely burn fine w/ it.

If these are rips or downloads of games check the tutorials here and make sure that part is good to go.
